The multiple drug resistant (MDR) S. aureus causes simple skin infection to lethal pneumonia, endocarditis, and sepsis. The ever-increasing antimicrobial resistance is a grave concern worldwide and the wave of resistance may occur post covid-19 due to excessive antimicrobial and biocide usage which may cause higher death than the cancer. While the world is gearing towards understanding the AMR status in their countries, to better design and develop the novel therapeutics the detection kits, Pakistan is lagging in the race. Therefore, the current proposed research is aimed at assessing the AMR status in Pakistan and develop rapid inexpensive and easy-to-score detection kits for the detection of vancomycin and vancomycin-resistant S. aureus (VRSA) in nosocomial infections, milk, and meat industries.
