Studentship For MS/Ph.D. Students Under NCGE Project

The Center of Advanced studies in Agriculture and Food security (CAS-AFS), University of Agriculture, Faisalabad is offering MS and PH.D. fellowships under the Project titled "Establishment of National Center for Genome Editing for Crop Improvement and Human health (NCGE)". Specified research areas are: For MS: (1) Development of biotic and abiotic stress tolerant solanaceous vegetables through "omics" and genome editing technologies.(2) Genome editing in wheat for yield improvement through CRISPR/Cas9 system.(3) Development of early diagnosis of typhoid, TB and cancer genetic markers. For Ph.D.: (1) Engineering biotic stress resistance in Soyabean through CRISPR/Cas mediated genome editing. (2) Genome editing in wheat for quality improvement through CRISPR/Cas9 system. (3) Creation of novel biotic stress resistant citrus lines through CRISPR/Cas9 system. (4) Gene gun technology using CRISPR/Cas for prevention of vector-borne diseases. Eligibility for MS position: (a) Applicant must have possess an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences, Agriculture, Plant Sciences or Microbiology from an HEC recognized national/International institution. (b) Students already enrolled in the degree program at UAF will be preferred. Eligibility for Ph.D. position: (a) Applicant must have a Master's degree (18 years of education) in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Plant Sciences or Microbiology from an HEC recognized national/international institution. (b) A maximum age of 30 years. (c) Candidates with relevant research experience would be preferred. (d) Students already enrolled in the degree program at UAF will be preferred.
