I have been engaged in the fields of molecular biology and plant transformation since 2018. My research interests include functional characterization of genes involved in biotic and abiotic stresses in different crops using viral vectors. This characterization may help to improve and make stress tolerant crops. I have validated the role of MAPK and WRKY family genes in drought stress in cotton by VIGS. I also worked as research associate at NIBGE in a HEC-NRPU funded project. Currently, I am working as research associate in NCGE program at CAS-AFS University of Agriculture, Faisalabad focusing on the CRISPR/Cas mediated genome editing of wheat and brassica. Besides this, I am also working on virus induced genome editing to overcome the various barriers of traditional methods for developing genome edited crops.
